So I've been quiet on the drawing front while applying for jobs, selling all of my stuff to fund moving back to Cardiff, but I have taken to going for walks and taking photos.

More work on the way... but first, tea.

I've been inspired, so I now have a project in the works. In the meantime enjoy this picture of tea and cake, geek style!

Eccentric worlds and nonsensical scribbles

On Saturday some fellow 2011 graduates and I went to see what the second years have been up to in their new studio ( In the Howard Garden Campus in Cardiff city centre) at the opening of their interim show "Eccentric worlds and nonsensical scribblings". It was a wonderful mix of talents and ideas, it seems that being on the same campus as fine art and the print studio has benefited many people. There is a mix of more traditional illustration, screen printing, experimental animation and to my delight even model making. Having a student organised interim show a year and half before the graduate show really shows the effort, time, team work, money and organisation it requires to put on a really good show and most importantly, how to get people to attend. My years interim show ( I think everyone can agree...) was a bit of a disaster, but we learned a lot from it and it pushed us to really work together once third year came along. If this is just a snap shot from half way through the course, then I am very excited to see what these students will be producing June 2013.
Eccentric Worlds and nonsensical scribbles is on from the 29th of January until the 5th of February in the Capitol Centre, Queens Street ( Opposite Sainsburys and next to H & M)

Strange days

Strange weekend, a few hours of awfulness due to my amazing ability to attract "bricks", followed by an actually quite nice weekend spent with friends, hob nobs and wonderful illustration ( more on that in my next post, I am gathering pictures...). It left me in a very quiet, melancholy mood, so I did a drawing of a ram skull, as you do....  I really am enjoying painting for paintings sake, but I think I need a project to keep myself focused and develop more....

............OH BONDAGE! UP YOURS!!"
Last year we lost an under rated punk Goddess Poly Styrene, lead singer of X-Ray Spex, to cancer at the age of only 53. X-Ray spex may not have become as well known as the Sex Pistols or Siouxsie & the Banshees but I believe they created the most interesting and intelligent music to come out the punk scene. This is my small tribute to her, a painting of her ripping it up. I thought for a change I'd show the stages involved making this painting. The final product is messy, imperfect, but so was punk!

My tools! I love ink, I like that I can't completely control the outcome, it makes it more fun

Florence and the Machine- Talent house entry

I've submitted art work to http://www.talenthouse.com/creative to be on a 7 inch vinyl single in aid of the Teenage Cancer trust. It's my first competition entry this year and I'd really appreciate the support!

Who needs a social life when you have tea, ink and hob nobs!

I love painting wolves, everything about them is just beautiful. Painting wolves is definitely more satisfying than Saturday night TV or having an awful night out...  I had a dream a had a blue and pink cat last night. I really need to draw her...
